Ci\u00f2 consente di disaccoppiare la produzione e l&#8217;uso dell&#8217;energia e di fornire energia a settori che non possono essere facilmente elettrificati (o che si affidano alle batterie), come i trasporti pesanti e gli aerei.<\/p>\n\n<p>L&#8217;idrogeno \u00e8 l&#8217;esempio paradigmatico di questo approccio. Sebbene attualmente la maggior parte dell&#8217;idrogeno sia generato industrialmente dal gas naturale, il processo di elettrolisi dell&#8217;acqua per ottenere idrogeno \u00e8 un chiaro esempio di tecnologia PtG. Naturalmente, solo se ci assicuriamo che l&#8217;energia elettrica provenga da fonti rinnovabili, pu\u00f2 essere sostenibile.<\/p>\n\n<p>Oltre a utilizzare l&#8217;acqua per produrre idrogeno, possiamo utilizzare la CO<sub>2<\/sub> (in combinazione con acqua, idrogeno o azoto) per ottenere altri potenziali prodotti: dall&#8217;ammoniaca ai carburanti sintetici per l&#8217;aviazione, passando per il metanolo o altri.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"948\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/soldac-project.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/28_02_2024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30824\" srcset=\"https:\/\/soldac-project.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/28_02_2024.png 948w, https:\/\/soldac-project.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/28_02_2024-300x208.png 300w, https:\/\/soldac-project.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/28_02_2024-768x533.png 768w, https:\/\/soldac-project.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/28_02_2024-50x35.png 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 948px) 100vw, 948px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>A seconda della fonte, essendo la CO<sub>2<\/sub> uno dei principali gas serra, abbiamo la possibilit\u00e0 di raggiungere emissioni nette pari a zero! Infatti, se fossimo in grado di catturare e utilizzare le emissioni equivalenti di CO<sub>2<\/sub> dell&#8217;1% super-ricco, stimate in una media di 3 milioni di tonnellate di <sub>CO2eq<\/sub> all&#8217;anno, saremmo in grado di ottenere quasi il 2% della produzione annuale globale di metanolo. E non solo i combustibili, ma anche importanti sostanze chimiche possono essere prodotte. L&#8217;etilene, un importante composto dell&#8217;industria chimica utilizzato come precursore della plastica, pu\u00f2 essere ottenuto tramite P2X con emissioni significativamente inferiori rispetto all&#8217;attuale processo industriale. Ci\u00f2 significa che con le sole emissioni di CO<sub>2<\/sub> equivalenti a quelle di Taylor Swift nel 2022, saremmo in grado di generare &gt; 2,5 tonnellate di etilene, quindi immaginate il potenziale!<\/p>\n\n<p>Il Catalonia Institute for Energy Research, in collaborazione con l&#8217;Universit\u00e0 di Edimburgo, sta sviluppando un&#8217;unit\u00e0 elettrochimica in grado di convertire in modo efficiente la CO<sub>2<\/sub> proveniente da un&#8217;unit\u00e0 di cattura diretta dell&#8217;aria in etilene.
