SolDAC Newsletter – December 2023
SolDAC continues!
Within the SolDAC project, we are developing a new market-competitive and socially desirable Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) system to produce ethylene and ethanol by-products from air, reinventing the ethylene industry and replacing the current carbon-positive routes!
Our process aims to deliver an energy-self-sufficient, economically viable, and carbon-negative system, provided that each unit achieves new efficiency targets.
During this period, we have started to focus on testing optical and thermal systems. Modelling of the DAC unit has been carried out. We will continue with the development of the DAC unit and the study of nanoporous materials for DAC. The fundamental thermodynamic model of the photoelectrochemical process has been established. The reference electrochemical cell has already been developed.
Regarding the materials, the design, synthesis, and deposition of electrocatalysts are defined. The definition and development of the laboratory for validating the integrated SolDAC process has begun. Work to ensure environmental responsibility through an eco-design approach is well underway. So, we will keep you updated on our work and results during the coming year.
